Sound and character
The hard rubber head gives a clean, focused, articulate tone in which every note on the instrument stands out clearly. At the moment of impact the rubber head delivers a slight attack, so the tongues of the slit drum sound sharp and well defined, while the wooden handle preserves the characteristic inner ring of the instrument.
How to use
Choose this pair if you play a small slit drum and want a rhythmic, well articulated sound. Hold the handle loosely and let the head rebound naturally from the tongue. The two mallets are made for two-handed alternating rhythms and melodic runs, and thanks to their small size they also suit children who are learning.
Why this product
Because a hard rubber head is one of the cleanest, best-sounding solutions on smaller slit drums, and feeltone produces this mallet type specifically for that family of instruments. If you are after a rhythmic, well outlined sound rather than soft felt, you should choose this mallet.
Care tips
- Do not grip the handle tightly; let the head rebound naturally.
- Try playing both at the centre and at the end of a tongue to hear different shades.
- Never strike a person or animal; hard rubber is dense and can rebound forcefully.
- Store in a dry place and avoid leaving the rubber head in long, direct sunlight.
