A round mango wood box, 12.5 cm across and 6 cm high. Its lid has a coral red coating with “Petits secrets” written in large cream letters. Around the words you will find golden crescent moons and stars, a star-tipped wand, an old-fashioned key, a red envelope sealed with a heart and a small purple bottle, with green sprigs along the edges. The sides are plain, light-coloured wood. Made in India; you receive one box.
Little secrets, in French
Petits secrets is French for little secrets. Every drawing on the lid belongs to a secret. A key locks something away, an envelope hides a love letter, and the little bottle recalls the potions of fairy tales.
For a letter, a ring or a spare key
A small folded letter, a favourite pair of earrings, a ring or a spare key will all fit inside. The wood is bare and unlined. No key comes with the box; the one on the lid is only a drawing. Because the lid simply lifts off and does not lock, this is no safe, more a pretty hiding place for the dressing table.
Only the top of the lid is coated; the rim and sides are plain wood, with grain that varies slightly from box to box. Wipe it with a dry, soft cloth and keep it out of damp places.
A gift for a friend
Give it to a friend, a sister or a goddaughter who always has a few small treasures she likes to keep together. Add a few handwritten lines, and the folded note can already be waiting inside when you hand it over. It works just as well for you, if your rings need a home on the bedside table.
