A round mango wood box, 12.5 cm across and 6 cm high. On the right of the black-coated lid is a girl’s face, eyes closed and lips red. Her long, wavy red hair reaches almost to the edge, and above her head sits a crown of golden stars. Higher up floats a ringed planet much like Saturn, with a shooting star in the top left corner. On the left, the words “Cosmic babe” appear in cream letters. The sides are plain, light-coloured wood. Made in India; you receive one box.
A cosmic beauty
Cosmic babe is a playful English phrase for a girl who loves the stars, reads her horoscope and is happy to say so. The drawing on the lid fits the words, with the girl dreaming among the stars.
Made for bead bracelets
As the photo shows, a handful of bead bracelets fits comfortably inside. It also works for rings, hair clips or a few small crystals, and a longer necklace fits too, coiled up. The lid lifts off without a hinge or clasp and simply sits on the rim. Inside, the wood is bare, so put a small cloth under any jewellery that scratches easily.
At about 250 g, the box is light. Wipe the lid with a dry, soft cloth and keep the box away from radiators and strong sun.
For a friend who reads her stars
If you have a friend who checks her horoscope before the news each morning, this box is for her. If you know her sign, you could slip a bracelet for that sign inside.
