The stone of rose quartz
Rose quartz is the gentle pink variety of quartz, its colour coming from traces of titanium, iron or manganese; it ranges from translucent to milky, with a Mohs hardness of around 7. In crystal lore it is known as the ‘love stone’: tradition holds that it balances the emotions, eases temper, anger and jealousy, and supports compassion, self-love and harmony.
The tumbled form and A quality
Tumbled stones gain their smooth surface through long polishing, which brings out rose quartz’s soft, silky pink. Larger A-quality pieces show a full colour; as a natural stone, the shade can differ, and every piece is unique.
Ways to use it
Rose quartz is an especially loving gift and a soothing palm stone for meditation. It looks lovely on a bedside table, in a crystal corner or cupped in the hand.
Care and good to know
This is a durable mineral, yet it is worth protecting from knocks and scratches. Rinse under lukewarm water and pat dry; to protect the colour, keep it away from prolonged, strong sunlight.
