Sound and character
The 50 cm is a genuinely large ritual drum voice: deep, carrying fundamental, long sustain and a wide, calming breath. The big membrane reveals horsehide's natural variety even more clearly — an almost physical, full vibration in the centre and a clearly articulated, brighter percussive ring near the edges. A drum this size fills a room without effort: its own mass and the deep frame do most of the work. Each example is unique thanks to the natural variation of the hide.
How to use
The 50 cm clearly belongs to group and large-room use: leading drum circles, community ceremonies, sound concerts, full-moon events, mood preparation before sound massage. Play on a stand, seated on the lap, or standing with a strap. The included leather mallet brings out the full ceremonial spectrum, while hand and palm play open another world entirely.
Why this product
If you need a room-filling, deep ceremonial voice and are ready for a larger, durable instrument, the 50 cm covers most serious practice goals. A mature, long-lived hand-built drum with natural finishing.
Care tips
- Store at stable, moderate humidity — sudden dryness or moisture changes skin tension.
- Because of the large diameter, use a stand or adjustable holder for long sessions.
- Don't force the stroke — a drum this size responds beautifully to soft touch.
- Never insert objects between the lacing — pinching hazard.
- For transport, use a matching padded bag.
