The 55 cm version is Feeltone’’s largest round ritual drum size. It arrives as a complete kit with a raw, saw-cut frame, giving you the chance to personalise the surface in full. The hide and all materials needed for tensioning are in the package — only the handle stick is yours to choose from nature, as tradition asks.
Sound and character
The 55 cm size produces a monumental, hollow and very deep fundamental. At this diameter cowhide gives a particularly bodied, weighty vibration that the listener feels physically as well as hears. The tonal range is generous, with rich, slowly-fading overtones surrounding the fundamental. It is ideal for leading group ceremonies and rituals held in large spaces.
How to use
Recommended for leading community drum circles, larger full-moon circles, as the foundation drum in group sound therapy sessions, and for professional sound artists in concert-style performances. The 55 cm format is held with both hands and is most comfortable seated, resting on the lap. Its voice provides a unique presence in the room.
Why this product
If you are looking for the deepest and most filling ritual drum sound, the 55 cm kit is the choice. Feeltone uses premium materials and the detailed manual helps even if this is your first build. The finished instrument is not just a rhythm source but a presence in its own right that defines the character of a ceremony.
Care tips
- Because of the large frame, it is worth doing the lacing with the help of a second person.
- Use a tub or vessel large enough for the soaking step.
- When storing, make sure the hide does not touch any damp surface.
- Before playing, always warm the head with slow rubbing of your palm.
- Keep the leather head of the beater dry during use; if it gets wet, let it dry fully before playing again.
