Sound and character
The 35 cm version delivers a noticeably deeper, fuller voice than the 30 cm model — still easy to carry, yet the bass register gains clearly more weight. By varying the tension of the hide and the tightness of the knots you can fine-tune whether the drum sings with a percussive pulse or a longer, rocking fundamental.
How to use
The kit contains the frame, the cowhide, the tensioning cord, the leather strip for the grip and the mallet. The hide is tensioned by leading the cord through the double holes on the back, and the grip is formed by dividing the cords into four segments from the centre and wrapping them with the leather strip. Many people choose this size for community circles, full-moon drumming and personal rituals alike.
Why this product
- Complete 35 cm building kit — all materials included
- Fuller, deeper sound in a compact size
- Natural materials: only wood and hide
- A deep, personal connection with the drum you have built
Care tips
Always build according to the supplied instructions — using tools carries a risk of injury. The frame is rough-sawn and may have splinters or sharp edges, so wear gloves. The rawhide cord can pose a strangulation hazard around small children. Keep the finished drum in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and heaters; refresh the hide gently from time to time.
