Sound and character
The 30 cm version is the most compact in the series: it speaks with a bright, lively, comparatively higher fundamental. The tension of the cowhide and the way you knot the cord strongly shape whether the sound is firmer and more percussive or deeper and more sustained. This size is especially suited to personal ritual, travel and any circle where you want to build your own ceremonial drum.
How to use
The kit contains everything you need: frame, cowhide, tensioning cord, leather strip and mallet. On the back, the cord is led through the double holes in the hide, tensioned and tied. The grip is formed by dividing the cords from the centre into four segments and wrapping them with leather strip. Building it is itself a beautiful meditative practice — many people choose to do it at full moon.

Care tips
Always work according to the supplied instructions — using tools carries a risk of injury. The frame is rough-sawn and may have splinters or sharp edges, so wear gloves. The rawhide cord can pose a strangulation hazard around small children. Keep the finished drum dry, away from direct sunlight and heaters; the hide can be gently refreshed from time to time.
