Sound and character
The F-tuned variant gives a softer, rounder middle register and a gentle overtone structure. The fully wound string set has a velvety surface; the resulting voice is less sparkling and more cavernous and caressing, which suits long-form relaxation work very well.
How to use
Fit a new set when the tone feels tired, the strings are worn, or the tuning becomes hard to hold. With intensive professional use plan a yearly change; with sparser home use a longer interval is usually fine.
