Sound and character
This wound bass string is built for the smaller, XL-category monolini/monolina-style monochord, voicing the foundation in C tuning. The brass overwind warms the otherwise austere character of the steel core, so the attack is full, round, and at the same time clearly articulated. The 80 cm length is just right for a compact body to still deliver a clean bass.
How to use
A replacement string for the MO-28C-XL model. When the original bass string has broken or lost its ring, this part restores the instrument's original tone. The ball-end termination makes fitting easier than the loop-end versions.
Why this product
Feeltone calculates separately for the strings of XL-format compact monochords, so that even the smaller resonance body keeps the full bass range. A non-matching string from another maker can flatten the sound or sit at the wrong tension.
Care tips
- Place the ball-end carefully in the holder slot so that it cannot slip out during tensioning.
- After bringing it to pitch, expect 2–3 days of follow-up tuning — this is true for every new string.
- The bare string ends are sharp metal; mind your hands when opening the package and fitting.
- Returns can only be accepted if the seal is intact.
About Feeltone
Feeltone is a craft instrument workshop in Lassan, northern Germany, founded by Ingo Böhme. For more than two decades they have built monochords, sound beds, sound chairs, and ceremonial drums for therapists, sound artists, and meditation practitioners. Every instrument is hand-made from sustainably sourced timber and finished with natural treatments such as hard-wax oil.
