Sound and character
Strings tuned to a give the silvery, shimmering layer that defines the monochord's floating sound. When many strings tuned to the same pitch sound together, the tones approach each other and then drift slightly apart: this beating effect is at the heart of the meditative experience. A single tired string is enough to upset that delicate balance.
How to use
Replace the string when the voice sounds out of tune, dull, or shows visible wear. Hook the ball-end into place, tighten the string carefully and gradually, and tune it to match the others. The new string will stretch over several days; expect frequent retuning. Feeltone strongly recommends sticking with the original strings to preserve the instrument's tone.

Care tips
- The bare ends are sharp; handle with care.
- The string end may snap out when uncoiled from the loop.
- Never overstretch, as the string can break and cause injury.
- After fitting a new string, gently retune the neighbouring strings as well.
- Use the tuning key supplied with your instrument.
