Mobil tomato is a determinate, vigorously growing, mid-late field variety with high yields. The fruits are flattened round, 120–140 g — meatier than classic home garden varieties. Versatile in use: equally good fresh or as the base for tomato paste and sauces.
Sowing and growing
Sowing time: March in seed trays. Transplanting: May. Spacing: 60×40 cm. Determinate growth means no side-shoot removal, but light support helps the robust stem cope with the weight of the fruits.
The large flattened fruits ripen continuously from late July. Ideal for tomato paste, ketchup and tomato juice — a medium-sized plot delivers a substantial canning batch. Mobil is a working horse of the home garden when bulk processing is the goal.
