Smooth, tumbled red jasper stones in a warm, full brick-red, in a larger assorted size – lovely as a palm stone, decoration or collector’s piece.
The stone of red jasper
Red jasper is a dense, opaque chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), its warm red colour coming from iron oxide (hematite); its Mohs hardness is around 7. It is one of the most activating types of jasper. In crystal lore it is known as a stone of grounding and vitality, and tradition holds that it supports the flow of energy and helps one stand firm and steady.
The tumbled form and A quality
Tumbled stones gain their smooth surface through long polishing, which brings out red jasper’s warm colour and subtle patterning. Larger A-quality pieces show a full colour; as a natural stone, the shade can differ, and every piece is unique.
Ways to use it
Red jasper is a favourite palm stone and meditation piece; its warm, earthy colour suits a desk or a more active spot in a space. It also looks lovely in a jar and crystal corner.
