Sound and character
The 55 cm horsehide delivers the deepest, longest-sustaining sound in the range. The large diameter creates a powerful, earthy fundamental, especially suited for ceremonial, therapeutic or group ritual use. The hide's living structure gives each piece its own character — no two are alike.
How to use
Use this hide to build a large shamanic drum, ceremonial drum or frame drum. The size refers to the wooden frame — the hide is larger, providing enough material for the traditional lacing on the back. Ideal if you want a loud, room-filling voice.
Why this product
Carefully cut hide from small workshops, partly from organic sources. Feeltone has long worked with trusted, traditional craftspeople who understand what a great-sounding drum hide takes.
Care tips
- Soak in lukewarm water for a few hours so it becomes pliable and easy to work.
- Stretch gradually and symmetrically to the frame.
- Let it dry completely at room temperature before playing.
