Sound and character
Raw horsehide produces a warm, full, ancient-sounding voice. The larger frame gives a deep, long-sustaining fundamental — ideal for ceremonial and therapeutic work. Each hide is unique, so every drum will speak with its own subtle character.
How to use
This 45 cm hide fits feeltone's traditional handmade drums and works as raw material for shamanic drums, ritual drums and frame drums you build yourself. The diameter refers to the wooden frame — the hide itself is larger, providing enough material for the traditional lacing.
Why this product
You get high-quality hide processed in small workshops, partly from organic sources. If you build your own drum, this material delivers an authentic, natural sound. Wild boar and deer hides are available in limited quantities on request.
Care tips
- Soak the hide in lukewarm water for a few hours before lacing, until it becomes pliable.
- Work patiently when stretching, keeping tension even across the frame.
- Store in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.
