Sound and character
Horsehide gives a finer, more sensitive and brighter voice than cowhide. At 30 cm the drum sings with a clear, close, intimate tone, well suited to personal meditation, therapeutic work or energy practice. Despite the small diameter, the skin releases surprisingly melodic overtones.

For hand-built smaller frame drums you want as a portable, intimate instrument. Perfect for hand-held drumming used directly beside a client in sound-therapy work. Soak and lace as usual.

You receive a rarer, finer-character material. Horsehide is not an everyday choice, and on smaller frames it delivers exactly the clarity you want from a small drum: clean, ringing and direct.
Care tips
- Soak in lukewarm water for 2-3 hours.
- Lace gently, working evenly around the frame.
- Let it dry slowly so the finer fibre does not distort.
- Lighter mallets bring out the drum's character best.
