Sound and character
The 55 cm size is a classic choice for serious deep-voiced ceremonial drums. The hide opens generously, sustains long, fills space with presence and unfolds layered overtones. It carries beautifully in sound circles and larger venues.
How to use
For hand-built larger frame drums intended for ritual or sound-therapy work. Because of its size, adapt your playing posture: it sounds great seated, flat or on a stand. After soaking, lace it carefully onto the frame.
Why this product
You receive the raw material for a full-bodied, deep drum, prepared with traditional German instrument-making care. The unique grain, thickness and voice of each hide gives the finished drum its own face — no two will ever sound exactly alike.
Care tips
- Soak for 4-6 hours so the thicker areas are fully saturated.
- Lace in several passes to even out the tension.
- Drying may take 2-4 days; be patient.
- Never speed up drying with heat — it will deform the skin.
