At the centre of this pendulum is a polished, star-shaped quartz in a round, copper-tone frame. A long quartz point belongs to it as well, and it hangs from a matching metal chain. It is about 25 cm long including the chain and was made in India.
A star inside a sphere
The round frame encloses the star, giving it a shape you can recognise from across the room. The star makes the pendulum more decorative, while the long point still shows the direction of the swing. Colourless quartz and warm copper tone go well together. Light shines through the stone while the frame reflects it brightly.
By tradition, rock crystal, or colourless quartz, is a stone of clarity. On this pendulum it appears twice, as a star and as a point.
Stop it before you ask
If the stone is still moving to and fro, it is hard to see which way it sets off. Hold it gently with your other hand, wait for the chain to straighten, then let go. Do the same between two questions.
Now silently ask your question and simply watch. Do not try to steer the swing with your hand, and keep your wrist relaxed. If you find it easier, hold the chain shorter, and it will swing faster.
Hang it up as a decoration
When not in use, it looks good hung on a hook or a window handle, where daylight shines through the quartz. If the metal loses its shine over time, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth, and do not soak it in water. Shade and inner markings of the quartz vary, so yours will look a little different from the picture.
