How much liquid does one pump press deliver?

Accepted Answer

A single press dispenses roughly 0.3-0.5 ml of liquid, which for oily preparations is typically a few drops. The amount can vary with the viscosity of the liquid: thicker oils (e.g. castor oil) may give slightly less, while thinner oils or serums may give slightly more per press.

Is it suitable for storing essential oils directly in the pump bottle?

Accepted Answer

Pump bottles are not recommended for storing pure, undiluted essential oils, because over the long term essential oils may soften the plastic parts of the pump. For diluted massage oils (typically 2-5% essential oil in a carrier oil) and serums, however, it is a perfect choice. For pure essential oils we recommend the dropper bottle (GBot-22 series).

Is the pump closure airtight?

Accepted Answer

The pump cap provides a leak-tight seal in an upright position, and under normal use the contents do not evaporate significantly. For transport or long-term storage, however, it is worth locking the pump head (most pumps can be twisted into a locked position), and we do not recommend storing the bottle upside down.
