The tone of the Earth day: 194.2 Hz
This power tuning fork is tuned to 194.2 Hz, a tone derived from the Earth day – the time of the Earth's rotation around its axis. Tradition associates this tone with an activating, refreshing quality: many people like to use it to tune in at the start of the day.
What makes a power tuning fork different?
The two prongs carry add-on weights – this is what makes it a power (weighted) tuning fork. Thanks to the weights, the vibration is considerably stronger and lasts longer than on unweighted forks, so the tone is not only audible: touching the foot of the fork to the body lets you gently feel the vibration as well. This is exactly why sound therapists appreciate weighted forks – sound and vibration work together.
Anodised aluminium, comfortable to use
The fork is made of anodised aluminium in Germany. It is 19.5 cm long and stores comfortably in a case or drawer. Sounding it is simple: tap the prong gently against the soft part of your palm or a rubber mallet, never against a hard object.
How to bring it into your daily routine
If you are new to tuning forks, start simply: sound it in the morning, listen to the ring for a minute or two and notice how it affects your mood. In therapeutic work, placing the foot of the weighted fork on the wrist, shoulder or back lets the vibration be felt directly in the body.
