A G major triad on three bars
This Power Chimes set is tuned in G major, with the notes b3, d4 and g4. G major sounds bright and open without ever turning harsh - and it works particularly well alongside a guitar, for which it is one of the favourite home keys.
The three notes: b3, d4, g4
The lowest bar is b3, followed by d4 and then g4. Struck one by one they give three separate notes; swept across, they merge into a single blended chord. As all the notes come from the same harmony, you can vary the order freely.
Build and size
The bars are mounted in a beech holder measuring 17.5 x 6.2 x 3.5 cm, which also serves as a handle. Thanks to premium components the instrument speaks cleanly and rings on for a long time.
When to choose G major
Choose it when you want to use the chimes in a guitar or vocal setting, or when a sound bath or music lesson calls for a brighter, more open colour. The 440 Hz reference pitch keeps it compatible with every conventionally tuned instrument.
How to play it
Hold the wooden holder in one hand and touch the bars with a thin beater in the other. Sweep across them in a single movement and the three notes melt into one another, leaving a long, shimmering decay. To stop the sound early, simply touch the bars with your palm - that way you decide exactly how long the chime rings.
