A lot of smoky quartz points polished to a tip, from India, approx. 5–6 pieces. You receive the whole lot, not a single stone. Together the pieces weigh about 0.7 kg. Because they are cut from natural stone, size, shape and depth of colour vary from piece to piece, and the stones in the photos are examples.
Quartz with a smoky tint
Smoky quartz is the same mineral as water-clear rock crystal, only brownish and smoky in colour. It can be as pale as weak tea or a deeper smoky brown. In Scotland it is called cairngorm, after the mountains where it was once collected, and it was set into Scottish brooches and kilt pins.
Five or six points for several spots
One lot is enough for several places. Put one point on your desk and one on the windowsill, and keep the rest together in a bowl. If you like giving stones as gifts, you can tuck a point into a small pouch for a friend.
People who work with crystals regard smoky quartz as a stone of protection. Many lay the points around a candle when they meditate.
If you are just starting to collect stones, a lot like this is a good base. Several pieces of the same mineral show how much colour and shape can vary, and if you hold a point up to a lamp or a window, you can also see how much light it lets through.
Dust and storage
Wipe off dust with a soft brush or a dry cloth. If you keep the points in a box, wrap them separately or set them on something soft, as the tips can chip if they knock against each other.
