Brown, gold and darker bands run through the stone of this pendulum. Its polished tiger’s eye point sits in a gold-tone cap on a long metal chain. The stone is small, and the pendulum is about 25 cm long including the chain. Made in India.
A band of light like a cat’s eye
Inside tiger’s eye run parallel, fibrous strands. As you turn it, a bright band of light glides across the stone, much like in a cat’s eye. While the pendulum swings, the stone slowly rotates and you can watch the band travel across it. Tiger’s eye is a form of quartz that has kept the pattern of a fibrous mineral.
By tradition, it is a stone of courage and self-confidence. Its warm brown and gold bands go especially well with the gold-tone cap.
If it starts spinning instead of swinging
Sometimes the stone spins around its own axis instead of swinging, because the chain has twisted. Stop it with your other hand, let the chain untwist and only then ask again. If this happens often, pinch the very end of the chain between two fingers instead of closing it in your fist.
The shimmering band shows best in daylight. If you can, use it at a table near a window, with your elbow resting on the surface.
Every stone banded differently
Colour and banding vary from one tiger’s eye to another. Some have broader gold bands, others are darker. Yours will look a little different from the picture too. Clean the metal parts with a soft, dry cloth and do not soak the chain in water.
