Pointed Amethyst Pendulum with Silver-Tone Cap

A deep purple pointed amethyst pendulum in a silver-tone cap on a long metal chain, about 25 cm overall.

This pendulum has a single stone, a polished amethyst point in deep purple. Its cap is silver-tone and the chain is a long metal chain. The stone is small, and the pendulum is about 25 cm long including the chain. Made in India.

A purple stone for quiet reflection

Amethyst is traditionally seen as a stone of reflection and prayer. In the Middle Ages it was set in bishops’ rings. As a mineral it is the purple variety of quartz, a close relative of colourless rock crystal.

Back and forth, or round in a circle

A pendulum moves in two basic ways: it swings in a straight line or turns in a circle. A straight swing can go back and forth or side to side, and a circle can run clockwise or anticlockwise.

People who use pendulums give meaning to these movements, and everyone learns from their own hand which one shows what. Keep a notebook of what you asked and how the stone moved. The direction of a circle is easy to mix up, so look down on the pendulum from above rather than from the side. Looking back after a few weeks, you can see how consistently the pendulum moves for yes and for no.

Deep purple, a different shade on every piece

Natural amethyst varies in colour. The stone on yours may be paler or a very dark purple, and it may have small veils inside.

As amethyst can fade in lasting sunlight, keep it in a box. Wipe the cap and chain with a soft, dry cloth and do not soak them in water.
