This bracelet is made of small jade beads, about 6 mm across, strung on an elastic cord. It is about 17 cm long with no clasp, so you slip it over your hand. You receive one bracelet, made in China.
Milky white and pale yellow beads
Most of the beads are milky white and slightly translucent, with a few pale yellow, peachy ones among them. It suits a summer dress or a white blouse, and it shows up nicely under the sleeve of a dark jumper too.
As this is a natural stone, the number and position of the yellowish beads can vary from bracelet to bracelet.
Jade's standing in China
In China, jade has been among the most valued stones for thousands of years. Jewellery, seals and ritual objects were carved from it, and it is still seen as a symbol of integrity and good fortune. In Chinese writing, the character for jade looks like the one for king, with just one extra dot.
Jade is in fact the shared name of two minerals, jadeite and nephrite. Both are tough stones that stand up well to everyday wear.
If you are looking for a present for someone who likes pale, light jewellery, this jade bracelet is the one we would suggest.
Light beads on the wrist
The 6 mm beads are small and light, so the bracelet won't get in your way while you work, and you can wear it with a watch.
On a wrist of about 15 cm the 17 cm bracelet sits a little loose; on one of about 16 cm it sits comfortably snug.
Remove it before a bath or a swim, and don't stretch it hard when putting it on. If it gets dusty, wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth and let it dry. Don't use chemicals or jewellery cleaner.
