Seven gemstones, one donut
At the end of this pendulum hangs a special flat donut shaped disc made of seven different semi precious stones: jasper, carnelian, citrine, aventurine, sodalite, chalcedony and amethyst. Each stone takes one segment on the disc, together producing a colour scale that recalls the traditional colours of the seven main chakras. The disc is 4 centimetres in width and 1.8 centimetres thick, weighing 30 grams. It carries on the ancient Indian tradition of pendulum making.
What pendulums are traditionally used for
The pendulum is one of the classic tools of dowsing, the practice of supporting perception. Many people use it for aroma therapy, choosing herbal remedies, homeopathy selection, reading cards and tarot, or simply for self reflection. You do not need to believe in any special power to benefit from it; even just taking such a tool in your hand and slowing down to notice your own reactions is helpful in itself.
The meaning of the chakra colour scale
The seven gemstones connect to the traditional colours of the seven main chakras: jasper (root, red), carnelian (sacral, orange), citrine (solar plexus, yellow), aventurine (heart, green), sodalite (throat, blue), chalcedony (brow, bluish white) and amethyst (crown, purple). The donut shape expresses that these areas are closely linked. For the practitioner it helps keep the full spectrum together during attention.
Size, weight, material
The donut is 4 centimetres wide and 1.8 centimetres thick. The full length of the pendulum with the hanging chain usually fits comfortably in the palm, and about 15 to 20 centimetres hangs freely from the wrist. Weight: 30 grams. Materials: seven different semi precious stones, chain and ring. Country of origin: India. It is the work of Indian craftspeople, so small differences in the patterns of the stones may appear between individual pieces.
Cleaning and storage
Wipe the stones once a month with a cloth dipped in lukewarm water and well wrung out, without chemicals. Do not put it under running water for a long time, as some gemstones are sensitive to lasting moisture. For storage we recommend that you keep it wrapped in a soft cloth or in a small fabric pouch, so that other jewellery does not scratch it.
