The ancient yin-yang symbol rarely takes such tangible form: black obsidian and clear rock crystal embody the unity of dark and light in a single pendant.
The yin-yang symbol
Yin and yang are the two principles of Chinese thought that pervade every aspect of life and the universe. Yin represents the feminine principle (earth, cold, north, moist), yang the masculine (heaven, warmth, south, dry). The two are not opposites but complements – which the pendant's dark and light stones express.
The two stones in tradition
Black obsidian is a volcanic glass that tradition knows as a stone of protection and grounding. Rock crystal is clear quartz, the 'master crystal', regarded as an amplifier of clarity and intention. Together they represent the balanced unity of duality.
Good to know
The pendant is around 3 cm in a metal setting. It is nickel-, lead- and cadmium-free, in line with European product safety standards (REACH). As natural stones, the shade may vary slightly from piece to piece.
Care
Wipe with a soft cloth. Avoid prolonged moisture and chemicals.
