Palo Santo Stand in green scrubbed gamal wood
The Palo Santo Stand - Green Scrubbed Gamal Wood is a hand-finished holder made for the safe burning of palo santo sticks. The moss-green tone brings earthy depth to the piece and sits beautifully next to terracotta pots, patinated copper, or natural greenery. The scrubbed finish reveals the original grain of the wood, so every stand has its own unique pattern.
Using the stand
Light the tip of the palo santo stick with a candle flame or a lighter, let it burn for 20-30 seconds, then gently blow it out. Lay the smouldering stick horizontally in the long channel with the glowing end pointing inward. The ash falls into the recess, and the stand's four-point base keeps it stable on any flat surface. The 22 cm channel comfortably holds sticks between 8 and 15 cm.
Material and finish
Gamal wood is a dense Southeast Asian hardwood, well suited to pieces that get daily use. The scrubbed finish is produced with a wire brush that removes the softer grain between the rings, leaving the harder ridges raised. A thin layer of green colour is then wiped over the surface, so the deeper grooves keep the wood's own tone. The result is a rustic, grounded object with fine detail.
Care
Sweep accumulated ash with a soft brush or dry cloth. If the finish fades over the years, a light refresh with a clear wood oil will revive the surface. Do not soak in water or place in a dishwasher.
