The scent of Palo Santo, or "holy wood", is unmistakable: sweet, woody and faintly citrusy, warm and clean all at once. This stick brings the mood of the traditional South American cleansing wood in a convenient stick form.
The scent of Palo Santo
Palo Santo is the fragrant wood of the South American Bursera graveolens tree; by tradition, naturally fallen and aged wood is used for incense. Its scent is a sweet, woody, faintly citrusy smoke that radiates a frankincense-like deep calm. It is the traditional incense wood of space cleansing and mood-setting in South America – which we mention with respect.
When to reach for it
It is a great choice before meditation or yoga, or when you want a clean, calm start in a space. The warm, woody-citrusy scent comes through best in a living room or meditation corner.
Use and finish
A hand-rolled stick made to a traditional recipe, roughly 23 cm long, in a decorative hexagonal gift pack. Place it in a stable, non-flammable holder, light the tip, then blow out the flame. Never leave burning incense unattended, and ventilate the room while it burns.
The name Palo Santo already promises a lot – "holy wood" – and the warm, sweet-woody smoke truly creates a special mood.
