Palo Santo, the South American "holy wood", brings a sweet, woody, faintly citrus smoke that is much loved for setting a mood and clearing a space. This bamboo-free, solid dhoop form gives a fuller, cleaner smoke because it is shaped entirely from fragrant material.
The Palo Santo tradition
Palo Santo is the fragrant wood of the Bursera graveolens tree; for incense the naturally fallen, aged wood is traditionally used. In South America it is the traditional incense wood for cleansing a space and creating an atmosphere. Its scent is sweet and warmly woody, with a fine citrus top note.
Bamboo-free dhoop
Dhoop sticks are made without a bamboo core, shaped entirely from the fragrant paste, so the smoke carries no smell of burning bamboo. Each stick is about 7.5 cm long, with Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) as its main ingredient and a plant-based binder.
How to use
Light the tip of the stick, blow out the flame after a few seconds, and place it in the holder provided. Each box contains 10 sticks and one holder. It burns best in a draught-free, heat-proof spot.
