A white case, an orange button and an orange logo make this the brightest Pocket Pod. The case is 9 cm tall, 5.5 cm wide and 2.5 cm thick and weighs 102 g. Its grey polyester tape pulls out to 1.5 m, for dogs up to 25 kg according to the box.
New to retractable leads
The tape winds up inside the case. As your dog moves away it runs out, and as your dog comes back it pulls in again, so you do not have to gather it by hand and the lead does not trail on the ground. Always hold the case rather than the tape, and make sure the tape does not wrap around your legs or your dog's.
Attach the swivel clip to the ring of a collar or harness. For the first few days, practise on a quiet street until you and your dog are used to it. After clipping on, give the clip a gentle tug to make sure its spring gate has closed.
A small gift for a dog owner
It comes in a small box with a window that shows the white case. If you have a friend or neighbour with a small dog who walks in town, it makes a modest gift. Any of the P-AW charm harnesses goes with the white case. Designed in the UK and made in China, the Pocket Pod also comes in pastel pink and mint green.
Children and the tape
The box warns that children should only use it under adult supervision, as the tape can tangle. It is not a toy, and the case must not be taken apart. Stop using it if the tape is worn or damaged.
