The Pocket Pod is a small retractable lead. Its case is 9 cm tall, 5.5 cm wide and 2.5 cm thick, and from it runs a grey polyester tape of up to 1.5 m that winds back in by itself as your dog comes closer. According to the box, it suits dogs up to 25 kg, and it comes in a small window box.
Fits a coat pocket
As the name says, it is made for the pocket. The pastel pink case is smaller than a phone and weighs 101 g, so after the walk it goes into a coat pocket or bag. Slip the grey wrist strap on the bottom over your wrist so you do not drop it. Before pocketing it, let the tape wind all the way in so the clip rests against the case.
A short tape keeps your dog close
1.5 m is not long. On the pavement your dog stays by your side yet still has a step or two to sniff around. Stairs, a lift or the vet's waiting room are easy to manage at this length. To give your dog more freedom, choose the 3 m Mini Mango instead.
Made of zinc alloy, the clip has a swivel head, so the tape twists less. Attach it to the back ring of a harness or to a collar. For a dog of 2–8 kg, the metal back ring of a P-AW charm harness works well, and the grey tape goes with a harness of any colour.
When the tape starts to wear
Check the tape now and then, and stop using it if it is frayed or damaged. Keep it away from sharp objects and do not let your dog chew it. On walks, always hold the case, not the tape. Children should only walk a dog with it when an adult is with them, as the tape can tangle. Never take the case apart.
