A light grey case with a lemon yellow button and yellow details. The Elephant lead has a 2 m polyester tape and, according to the box, suits dogs up to 35 kg. Its case is 10 × 8.5 × 2.5 cm and weighs 121 g. It was designed in the UK, made in China and comes in a window box.
A neutral colour for any harness
Grey goes with any harness or collar, from pink to navy. If several people in your family walk the dog, a grey lead suits everyone, and the yellow button adds a touch of colour. For a dog under 25 kg walked mostly in town, the smaller Pocket Pod may be enough.
On the hook by the door
You can hang the lead by its handle on a hook by the door and lift it off in one move before you go out. Because the handle is curved, you slip your fingers through it instead of gripping the case. Let the tape wind all the way in before you hang it up, so the clip does not dangle.
Swivel clip, two metres
At the end of the tape is a zinc alloy clip with a swivel head, to attach to the back ring of a harness or to a collar. Two metres of tape is a comfortable length in town and in the park. After clipping on, give the clip a gentle tug to make sure its spring gate has closed, and on walks hold the handle, not the tape.
The box advises checking the tape regularly, not using it if damaged and never taking the case apart. Children should only hold it with an adult nearby, as the tape can tangle. Mud shows sooner on the light case; a damp cloth wipes it off.
