According to its box, the Elephant lead suits dogs up to 35 kg, so you can walk a medium-sized dog with it too. Its 2 m tape is polyester, the case is hard plastic and the clip is zinc alloy. The case measures 10 × 8.5 × 2.5 cm and weighs 121 g. It was designed in the UK, made in China and comes in a window box.
A handle your hand fits through
Unlike the other P-AW leads, this one has a handle. You slip your fingers through the curved opening and hold it the way you hold a mug. The shape is meant to recall an elephant, hence the name. As you do not have to grip the case itself, your hand stays relaxed on a longer walk.
Light blue with an orange button
An orange button sits on the light blue case, and the piece at the end of the tape is orange too. If your dog wears a blue or turquoise harness, the two go well together. The Elephant also comes in brown and in grey.
Two metres for a medium dog
The 2 m tape is longer than the pocket-sized lead's and shorter than the Mini Mango's, easy to manage in town and in the park. Its clip has a swivel head and attaches to the back ring of a harness or to a collar. Before crossing a road, call your dog in and wait for the tape to wind back. Hold the handle, never the tape.
The box advises checking the tape regularly, not using it if damaged and not letting your dog chew it. Children should only hold it under adult supervision, and the case should never be taken apart. After a muddy walk, wipe the case with a damp cloth.
