Size S of the navy obsidian harness, for dogs of 4–8 kg. It has light grey straps and a padded grey lining, and the fabric is a fine grid-weave 100% polyester. The harness weighs 90 g and is made in China.
A quiet, dark choice
If pink or purple feels too bright for you, this is the version to pick. Mud and dust show less on navy. Its grey trim is reflective, so even a dark harness gets noticed when light falls on it in the evening. The grey lining contrasts with the navy outside, so when putting it on you can quickly tell which side goes in.
A paw of black stone
A silver-coloured metal paw hangs on a black elastic loop beside the lead ring, with a glossy black obsidian at its centre. Obsidian is volcanic glass, and tradition sees it as a stone of protection and strength. You can take the charm off or move it to the collar if you prefer.
A close fit
A 4–8 kg dog might be a miniature dachshund, a shih tzu or a smaller Jack Russell terrier, but your own dog's weight is what counts. Under 4 kg, choose size XS.
Pull the harness on over the head, close the buckle on each side, then adjust it at the neck and the sides. It sits well when two fingers fit under the strap and nothing pulls tight behind the front legs.
Try it on at home first, with a treat, and only then head out for a walk. The label sewn into the lining says S, so you will always know which size you bought. With the light grey straps, the grey Elephant lead is a good match; it has a 2 m tape and a handle.
