A purple harness with sand-coloured straps and a padded grey lining. Size S is for dogs of 4–8 kg, and the harness weighs 90 g. It is made in China from fine grid-weave 100% polyester.
Amethyst on the back
Beside the lead ring, on a black elastic loop, hangs a silver-coloured metal paw with a round amethyst at its centre. The stone is purple, sometimes with whitish veins, and as a natural mineral every piece looks a little different. Tradition calls it the stone of calm.
If you would rather the charm did not swing about on walks, take it off and put it on the collar, or keep it at home.
Choosing between two sizes
The same purple harness also comes in size XS for dogs of 2–4 kg. If your dog is right on the line, around 4 kg, and fluffy or broad-chested, go for the larger one, as its straps can be taken in. A label sewn into the lining shows the size as S.
Dogs of this size include the shih tzu, the Cavalier King Charles spaniel and the miniature dachshund, but your own dog's weight is what counts.
Back ring, side buckles
Put the harness on over your dog's head and buckle it on both sides under the chest. The lead clips to the metal ring in the middle of the back, so any pull spreads across the chest and shoulders.
Grey reflective trim runs right round the edge and shows up well under street lights in the evening.
During the first few walks, check behind the front legs, and if a strap feels tight there, loosen it a little. For a lead, the peach Mini Mango has a matching lavender tape.
