A long, stick-shaped dog toy. A braided rope of cream and brown strands carries two cylinders of coffee wood, a chunky rope knot and a ball with a patterned surface. Both ends are knotted and frayed. The toy is 35 cm long and about 4.5 cm thick. You get one toy, made in China.
35 cm between hand and teeth
The length helps in a game of tug. You hold one end, your dog holds the other, and most of the toy stays between you, which keeps your hand further from its teeth. In the garden you can throw it too, and your dog brings it back by the rope or the ball.
Indoors, use it for tug rather than throwing. The two coffee wood cylinders are hard, and a 35 cm toy flying across the room can damage a glass cabinet or a flowerpot.
Ball, wood and knot on one rope
The rope is softer and the two cylinders are hard. They are made of coffee wood, the wood of the coffee plant, and even their grain differs. During play your dog can switch from one part to another and always finds something to bite into.
Whether it suits your dog depends on the size of its mouth and how hard it chews. Give it to a strong chewer only for short games together.
If your dog is new to rope toys, start with the ball. Roll it slowly across the floor, and once your dog has caught it, take hold of the other end of the rope.
Before you hand it over
Give a chew toy when you are nearby. The frayed ends lose strands over time and the wood picks up tooth marks. If the ball gets damaged or the wood cracks or splinters, replace the toy and pick up any loose bits.
