A stick-shaped dog toy of thickly braided rope. The tight braid of cream and brown strands forms a long stick with a textured surface, and a loop at one end holds a barrel-shaped piece of coffee wood. You get one toy, made in China.
A stick for indoors
Many dogs pick up the first branch they find on a walk and carry it all the way home. This braided stick is one they can take in their mouth indoors as well. Braided rope does not break into splinters like a dry branch, yet your dog can still carry it and shake it. If your dog always hunts for a stick on walks, this lets it keep up the habit at home.
For a game of tug, you hold the braided part and your dog takes the wooden end, or the other way round. On rainy days, when walks are shorter, a short game of tug fits into the living room and lets your dog use up some energy.
The wood held in the loop
At the end of the rope, a loop holds the wood in place. Coffee wood is the hard wood of the coffee plant, its grain is clearly visible, and every piece is a little different. The cream and brown strands alternate along the whole braid, which makes the stick striped and suits the warm colour of the wood.
During tug games, hold the stick at roughly the height of your dog's mouth rather than above its head. When your dog lets go, praise it, and you can start again.
As long as the braid holds
Stay close while your dog chews. If the braid starts to open, the loop loosens, or you see a crack or splinter in the wood, replace the toy. Put it away after play and the braid will last longer. Whether it suits your dog depends on the size of its mouth and how hard it chews.
