Sound and character
Sixty monochord strings tuned to G are stretched along the back of this outdoor sound chair. You play the strings with mallets and feel the vibration through the backrest. In windy locations the breeze sets the strings vibrating on their own — like an Aeolian harp. The sound is at once rustic and floating, weaving naturally into outdoor ambience.
How to use
We recommend this chair for gardens, parks, outdoor relaxation areas of clinics and hotel courtyards. It is built proportionally a little larger than a standard chair: legs hang freely, evoking playful childhood memories. It is especially enjoyable for two people — one sits and feels the vibration, the other plays from behind the backrest. The prototype has been weather-tested for years.
Why this product
Choose this if you want a lasting, weatherproof outdoor sound element that fits aesthetically into a natural environment. The de-sapwood oak is built for decades, and the stainless steel parts do not corrode. The G tuning creates a light, floating mood — a perfect addition to therapy gardens, meditation paths and private back gardens.
Care tips
- For good sound, fine-tune the strings regularly with the included device
- If only the vibration experience matters, less frequent tuning suffices
- Play with gentle strokes — do not force the tone
- Choose stable, level ground for installation
- Annually check the tuning pegs and the wood
- Avoid over-tensioning strings — breakage can cause injury
