Organic Classic Green Tea with Lemon and Ginger 50g

Organic sencha green tea (78%) with ginger, lemon peel and lemongrass. A fresh morning or afternoon cup from organic farming. 50 g artisan pouch.

What is it good for?

This blend is one of the most versatile daily teas. In the morning it works well instead of coffee: the caffeine content of green tea provides a gentler, more even state of focus, while lemon peel and ginger wake up the senses. While working in the morning it can help maintain alertness, and in the afternoon it serves as a refreshing drink when heat or fatigue would slow you down. In the evening, after a light dinner, it can be a sip-by-sip companion if you still want a touch of refreshing green. On summer days we also recommend it as iced tea: with mint, ice and a slice of lemon it is a real cooler that contains no added sugar.

Who do we recommend it to?

We recommend it to those who equally enjoy the softness of green tea and the vivid character of citrus. It is an ideal choice for you if you like to hydrate consciously during the day and want to give your body that extra freshness which plain water does not always provide. For morning tea drinkers who don't enjoy the more tannic character of black tea. For those following a fitness and health-conscious lifestyle who seek a natural source of caffeine. For all those who choose to support ecological farming and love handcrafted, small-batch products. As a gift it is also a safe choice; almost everyone is pleased to receive it.

Brewing tips

Green tea is more delicate than black, so please do not use boiling water. Bring the water to a boil, then let it rest for 2-3 minutes so the temperature drops to 75-85 degrees Celsius. For one cup (approximately 250 ml) use 1 teaspoon of the blend and steep for 2-3 minutes. If you want a stronger flavour, do not extend the steeping time as green tea easily turns bitter; instead use more leaves. For the iced version: brew at double strength, cool, and pour over ice with fresh mint leaves and a slice of lemon. Cold brewing is also possible: add 2 teaspoons of the blend to 1 litre of cold water and let it sit in the fridge for 6-8 hours, then strain. This produces an especially mild, lightly sweet drink.

Storage and care

Green tea and the citrus-spicy ingredients are all sensitive to light, moisture and strong odours. Please store the blend in an airtight, dark container in a cool, dry place. Do not keep it in direct sunlight, near kitchen heat sources, or next to scented spices, coffee or cleaning products. The essential oils of lemon peel quickly dissipate if the packaging is not properly sealed, so it is worth resealing carefully after every use. Rinse the teapot and strainer with warm water, avoid using detergent, and allow to dry completely before using again.
