What orange selenite is

Most stones sold as selenite are in fact satin spar, a fibrous, silky-sheened form of gypsum. The orange tone comes from natural iron oxides within the stone. Gypsum is a soft mineral (Mohs ~2), so the surface is gently waxy to the touch and sensitive to water.

In tradition

Tradition links orange selenite with the sacral chakra, seen as the centre of creativity, passion and emotional expression. The warm orange tone emphasises this creative, lively side; many know it as a stone of inspiration and playful self-expression.

A natural product – each piece is unique

Tumbled (polished, rounded) stones are made from natural mineral, so the size, shade and pattern vary from piece to piece and may differ from the photo. A typical stone is about 1.5–3.5 cm, with a smooth surface that sits easily in the hand. Selenite is soft and water-sensitive, so keep it in a dry place and avoid moisture to preserve its silky surface.

Use and care

Many hold it in the palm during meditation or quiet reflection; others keep it in a favourite corner, on the desk or in a bag. The polished stone can be cleaned gently with a soft, dry cloth.

The meanings and properties described rest on tradition and on the experiences of those who work with stones; they are not scientific facts and do not replace medical advice.
