Specifications
The cherry wood version of the Octave Sound Massage Table is a stand-alone instrument-piece of furniture made of a cherry wood frame (Prunus serotina) and an ash wood soundboard (Oleaceae). Total dimensions 204 cm (including handles) x 80 cm x 70 cm height, lying surface 196 cm x 80 cm. Lying height selectable between 70–80 cm at the time of order. Load capacity 120 kg, weight around 50 kg. Accessories include feet, handles, a tuning device, a tuning key and replacement strings. Made in Germany with biological hard wax oil treatment.
Sound and character
The monochord section carries 60 strings: 30 overtone strings tuned to d and 30 bass strings on either side tuned to D. The rich, deep character of the D note is harmonious and calming. The ash soundboard, curved in two directions, provides full sound and long sustain. Even a simple stroke across the strings creates spherical, overtone-rich music that guides the client into deep relaxation.
How to use
The cherry wood version is ideal for sound massage practitioners and sound therapists who want a classical, warm-toned instrument-piece of furniture in their practice. You can lay the client comfortably on the gently curved surface and play the strings to create physically perceptible vibrations. The extra-wide tray under the bed also allows simultaneous singing bowl play. Thanks to the decoupled construction of the monochord section, the client's body weight does not affect the tuning.
Why this product
Produced since 2015, the model has been refined over ten years based on the daily experience of educator Martina Gläser-Böhme and stands out in sound, form and functionality. The lying surface flips by releasing four screws, making tuning work easier. The gently curved support cradles the client comfortably while sound travels through the body.
Care tips
- Help the client up after longer sessions.
- Always clear the tray before flipping the lying surface.
- Overtensioned strings can break — check tension regularly.
- Do not stand on the rolling stool.
- Watch your fingers when adjusting the headrest.
