Dark, smoky faceted beads and larger, irregular black decorative pieces make up the Ocean necklace. Tiny silver-coloured spacers sit between them, with a finely detailed, silver-coloured butterfly pendant at the centre. It is about 42 cm long, weighs about 8 g and was made in China.
The darkness of the deep sea
Sea water is blue or green only near the surface. A few hundred metres down, hardly any sunlight reaches, and the water is almost black. Marine scientists call this depth the twilight zone. The Ocean necklace recalls that deep, dark water, and the pale butterfly pendant stands out clearly against it.
With a black polo neck or a white shirt
A black polo neck, a grey coat or a navy blouse all suit the dark beads. On a white shirt they make a strong contrast, and the butterfly shows up even more. With a plain black dress this one piece is enough, with the silver-coloured pendant catching the light. At 42 cm it reaches the collarbone on most people.
Lighter in colour, the Ocean bracelet set in the Nymph line has turquoise-blue and teal beads. The colours differ, but you can wear the two together if you like a dark necklace with lighter bracelets.
For travel and storage
For trips, carry it in a small pouch so it does not tangle with other jewellery. Take it off before swimming or showering, and wipe it now and then with a soft, dry cloth. Shape, shade and finish may vary slightly from bead to bead.
