Bright orange and red faceted beads give the Full Moon necklace its colour. A finely detailed, silver-coloured butterfly pendant hangs at the centre, with larger, irregular decorative pieces and tiny silver-coloured spacers between the beads. It is about 42 cm long, weighs about 8 g and was made in China.
An orange moon on the horizon
While a rising full moon is still low, we see it through a thick layer of air, so it looks orange, sometimes reddish, much like the setting sun. A red sunset has the same cause: near the horizon, light travels a longer way through the air. Higher up the moon turns white. Beads on this necklace recall that orange rising moon.
At its best on plain clothes
Orange and red are strong colours, so they show best on black, white or denim blue. If you are wearing a patterned dress, the necklace needs no other jewellery beside it. At 42 cm it sits around the collarbone on most people.
Its partner in the Nymph line, the Full Moon bracelet set, pairs pale gemstone beads with deeper, warm tones. Worn with the necklace, the paler beads of the bracelets soften the strong orange. For something gentler, the lilac Moon or the pale pink Love necklace from the same line may suit you better.
Between wears
After wearing, wipe the necklace with a soft, dry cloth and lay it flat in a drawer. Keep it apart from other jewellery so the beads do not get scratched. Take it off before swimming or showering. Shape and shade may vary slightly from bead to bead.
