Ocean is the blue-green version of the Nymph bracelet sets. It comes with several bracelets in turquoise-blue, teal and deeper-toned gemstone beads. Laid flat, the bracelets measure about 8 cm, and the whole set weighs about 12 g. Made in China.
The three thousand daughters of Oceanus
According to Hesiod's Theogony, the Greek poem on the birth of the gods, Oceanus and Tethys had three thousand daughters, the Oceanids. They were the nymphs of springs, rivers and seas, and the poem names Styx as the foremost of them. Nymph Ocean draws on that world, and the beads carry the turquoise of shallow water and the darker blue of the deep.
For white linen and holidays
Blue-green shades look best with a white linen shirt, a light summer dress or denim. On holiday the bracelets travel easily in a small pouch. If you are staying by the water, leave them in your room when you head to the beach and put them on for dinner.
Its sister piece, the Ocean necklace in the Nymph line, is darker, with smoky and black beads and a silver-coloured butterfly pendant. The two differ in colour, but you can wear them together if you like a dark necklace with lighter bracelets.
Take them off before the beach
Remove the bracelets before swimming, sunbathing or bathing, and let sun cream soak in before you put them back on. If sand gets between the beads, brush it out with a soft cloth or a dry brush. Bead shades may differ slightly from the photos.
