A dusky blue tunic dress with a shirt collar, buttons all the way down and a ruffled hem, in size M–L. Eyes surrounded by gold rays run down both sides of the button band, each with a blue pupil, and there are two on each sleeve. Handmade in India by Nomad Sari from light cotton with a crinkled finish, it has a surface of small crinkles. It is 81 cm long, 54 cm wide laid flat and weighs 116 g.
Gold eyes along the buttons
Fine gold rays frame the almond-shaped eyes like a sun. Around the eastern Mediterranean a blue eye like this is hung above the door, and small glass versions are threaded onto bracelets. Tradition says it keeps the evil eye away.
Which size should you choose?
Pick this one if you wear an M or L. The skirt is gathered below the waist seam with a ruffle at the hem, and the three-quarter sleeves flare towards the ends. On the model in the photo it reaches mid-thigh, and if you would like more length, wear it as a tunic over slim trousers, for example a pair of Nomad Sari trousers.
For an evening walk by the sea
Dusky blue is quieter than turquoise, so it also works for a summer evening out with white trousers. Both silver and gold jewellery suit it. In the product photo it is worn on the beach with a woven basket bag. Along the seams and edges the fabric is paler, with a washed look. Being handmade, the printed eyes and the washed effect may vary slightly. You receive one tunic dress, and the basket bag in the photo is not included.
