A brightly coloured Nomad Sari scarf, 170 × 50 cm, in a light, striped fabric. One half is yellow with thin red and pink stripes, the other raspberry red. A black printed lotus flower and compass with the NS monogram decorate it, and the ends have colourful fringes. According to the brand, it is handmade in Nepal.

Farewell to Nepal's capital

Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal, lying at the foot of the Himalayas at around 1,400 metres. Nomad Sari describes a Nepali custom of placing a scarf like this around the shoulders of those setting off, as a sign of love and protection. The wish that goes with Kathmandu Farewell is a blessing for brave departures.

For someone about to set off

It suits a friend who is moving abroad, starting out in a new city or leaving on a long trip. When you say goodbye, you can place it around their shoulders, as is the custom in Nepal. Folded, it takes up little room, so it slips easily into a farewell parcel. If you see someone off at the airport, put it on their shoulders there and they can wear it on the journey.

Yellow and raspberry

These two strong colours stand out even on a grey autumn day. With the yellow half outermost it looks brighter, with the raspberry half deeper. It goes best with jeans, a black jumper or a plain coat. Folded, it fits in a coat pocket, so it is always to hand for a cooler evening.

On a cool morning, fold it in half lengthwise and wrap it twice around your neck for a thicker layer. When the day is warmer, simply drape it over your shoulders with the colourful fringed ends hanging at the front.
