Nomad Sari Hooded Zip Jacket L – Brown

Brown striped Nomad Sari cotton jacket with a lined drawstring hood, full-length zip and two side pockets. Size L, for a 114–122 cm chest.

This size L Nomad Sari jacket is made of brown and greyish-white striped cotton. It has a soft fleece lining, long sleeves and a zip running the full length of the front. Cut for a 114–122 cm (45–48 in) chest, it was made in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Size L, with room for a jumper

For a medium or sturdier build, L is the everyday size. Measure your chest on the body, around the widest part. Over a T-shirt or shirt the jacket hangs loosely, and you can leave it unzipped.

It is also worth choosing L if you normally take an M but want a thicker jumper underneath on cooler days. The maker gives the same advice: if you are at the top end of a size, or want a looser fit, go one size up.

Lined hood, striped trim

Inside, the hood is lined as well. Its drawstring ends are made of striped fabric, matching the edging on the pockets. Both side pockets open at a slant and hold keys, a handkerchief or a pair of gloves.

Beige corduroys, dark blue jeans and leather shoes all suit the brown and greyish-white bands. Worn over a plain shirt or T-shirt, the stripes and printed mandalas stand out more.

The road to Kathmandu

The maker links this jacket to the “Hippie Trail” of the 1960s and 70s. That was the overland route many young people took from Europe through Istanbul and Afghanistan to India and Nepal. Kathmandu was one of its end points, and it is where these jackets are made today. The lotus, conch and vajra printed on the jacket are symbols from the Buddhist and Hindu traditions of Nepal.
