Nippon Kodo Herb & Earth Bergamot Japanese Incense – Thin Sticks

Nippon Kodo Herb & Earth bergamot Japanese incense. Fresh, sparkling citrusy scent, thin sticks. Ideal for your forenoon refreshment and welcoming guests.

Bergamot, a close relative of Earl Grey tea

Bergamot is a Mediterranean citrus variety that may be familiar to you from Earl Grey tea: the cleansing, sparkling, slightly floral notes appear in both. In the Japanese interpretation by Nippon Kodo, this transforms into a fresh, light incense experience.

When should you light it?

Alongside morning coffee or tea, for forenoon reading, or when welcoming guests in the living room, it is particularly pleasant. Bergamot 'welcomes' the space and creates a positive, light mood without being sweet.

How does it affect mood?

The scent of bergamot creates a slightly enlivening, refreshing feeling for many. Do you need to concentrate? Half a stick near (but not on) the work desk can gently raise your focus.

Burn time and holder

One stick burns for approximately 20–25 minutes. The sticks are shorter than classic Indian incense, so it is worth using a Japanese-style, low holder. The ember is hot, so a heat-resistant tray is mandatory.

What should you watch for?

Citrus scents can irritate sensitive skin or airways. We suggest you try a short test use. Never leave a lit stick unattended.

A small note on composition

In the perfume world, bergamot often appears as a top note: it is the first, lively impression. As incense it behaves similarly: most intense in the minutes after lighting, then softens into a finer, gentler background. So during use you can experience several scent phases.

Storage, shelf life

Store in the original, sealed packaging in a cool, dry place protected from sunlight. This way it retains its fresh, sparkling character for months.
