Smooth, tumbled nephrite jade stones in a deep, full green, in a larger assorted size – lovely as a palm stone, decoration or collector’s piece.
The stone of nephrite jade
Nephrite jade is a tough, dense calcium-magnesium silicate (from the amphibole group), whose fine, fibrous structure makes it remarkably resilient; its Mohs hardness is around 6–6.5. In crystal lore it is known as a stone of peace and wisdom, and tradition holds that it balances the emotions, helps recall and interpret dreams, and is calming and nurturing.
The tumbled form and A quality
Tumbled stones gain their smooth surface through long polishing, which brings out the jade’s deep green. Larger A-quality pieces show a full colour; as a natural stone, the shade and pattern can differ, and every piece is unique.
Ways to use it
Nephrite jade is a favourite palm stone and meditation piece, and a lovely, meaningful gift. It looks beautiful on a bedside table, desk or in a crystal corner; many keep one near the bed as a companion to dreaming.
Care and good to know
It is a resilient stone, yet it is worth protecting from knocks and storing apart. Rinse under lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft cloth.
